"Billy Doesn't Live Here Anymore" By David Mullins
Many years ago there lived a young boy who rode his bike and played out in his yard and he was the apple of his mom and daddy's eyes but, Billy, he don't live here anymore.
On the day he graduated high school he signed up to go and fight a war Uncle Sam had called, and he was ready to go but Billy, he don't live here anymore.
And all his friends said Billy are you crazy Do you really know what your fighting for but he left the world he knew ten thousand miles behind to fight in that old crazy asian war
(spoken) Now somewhere far away in a jungle prison an old man looks out from his bamboo bars and he thinks way back when he was a young boy and he rode his bike and played in the yard
And remembers when he was a young man and volunteered to go and fight a war but he can't believe his country has forsaken him But Billy, he don't live here anymore........
Thanks, David for permission to use your poem.
